Exhibitions Manager
Fernbank Museum of Natural History

​
  • Hire, train, supervise and evaluate Exhibitions staff.
  • Manage the creation and maintenance of department budgets and work with VP of Programming and Collections on the annual scope of work for the department.
  • Support long-term exhibit planning, including development and design of new long-term exhibits as well as the addition of new interactive components in various areas of the Museum.
  • Oversee the implementation of the Museum’s temporary exhibits, including large exhibits (8,000-10,000 sq ft) in the special exhibit gallery and smaller shows both indoors and outdoors.
  • Oversee and participate in the ongoing maintenance and repair of Museum exhibitions to ensure safety and positive guest experiences.
  • Serve as chair of the Museum’s Exhibit Selections Committee, researching and sharing information about available temporary exhibitions to committee members for review.
  • Serve as a member of the Museum’s Collections Committee, providing recommendations for collections acquisition.
  • Serve as project manager and lead designer on select temporary exhibits annually, including oversight for space planning layouts, graphic production, installation and de-installation activities.
  • Create interpretive and environmental graphics as needed for various projects throughout the Museum and greater Fernbank Campus.
  • Work collaboratively with other Museum staff to support the Museum’s mission and strategic plan.

  • Communicate design concepts and solutions using VectorWorks CAD software.
  • Design environmental and interpretive graphics using Adobe Creative Suite, from concept through production art.
  • Create supplementary videos for exhibitions
  • Assist in maintaining and repairing permanent and temporary exhibitions, including developing solutions to improve and upgrade existing exhibit properties.
  • Collaborate with museum staff including but not limited to educators, curators, fabrication specialists and marketing personnel.
  • Maintain and organize exhibition graphics and design files in an easily accessible archive.
